I saw this guy dressed in German uniform and riding a Ural made to look like an old BMW desert camouflage painted World War Two era German BMW R75 with a Steib side car and MG 42 Machine gun and towing a trailer out at Tortilla Flats Arizona.

This guy says he actually drives this machine on Interstate 10 and Highway 60 even during rush hour! I'm sure the MG42 machine gun is a real conversation piece for any drivers that might want to cut him off on the freeway.

Anyway it's amazing to look at and I'm sure it must draw a lot of attention anywhere it goes.

The MG 42 is a 7.92mm high rate of fire machine gun which entered service with the Wehrmacht in 1942. The MG 42 has one of the highest average rates of fire of any single-barreled man-portable machine gun, between 1,200 and 1,500 rpm, resulting in a distinctive muzzle report. Most people will remember this machine gun from the movie Saving Private Ryan.

This was taken in Cairo on my last trip to Egypt late last year. It's strange how no-one expected to see what is happening right now over there. Here's hoping things get better soon.

I guess this will have to be a trend with me, I have a photo like this in Vegas, Istanbul and now Cairo.
